Parish Life comprises activities involving spiritual growth, service, friendliness, and hospitality to our parish members. Our focus is to follow the direction given to us in 1 Peter 4:10. "Each one of you has received a special grace; so, like good stewards responsible for all these different graces of God, put yourselves at the service of others."
Bereavement: Beth Buttimer 441-5297
Working in concert with Mrs. Linda Broderick, St. James parish life coordinator, the Bereavement Committee offers support and comfort upon the loss of a loved one. Based on the desires of the family, bereavement members assist in handling various tasks associated with the preparation of a reception either at home or at St. James, at the conclusion of the Mass of Christian Burial.
CCW: Angela Carroll 352-7751 The Council of Catholic Women use their skills and talents to serve in a wide variety of roles. Their main focus is on projects that provide hospitality, material assistance, and care for others in the school, parish, and greater Savannah community, including international support to overseas missions and orphanages.

Saint Joseph's Covenant Keepers: Brian Kennedy (661-0546) or Paul Lambert (484-4670)
St. Joseph's Covenant Keepers is an informal international network of Christian men, under the patronage of St. Joseph, dedicated to strengthening the husband, fatherhood and the family. St. James' SJCK group meets each Friday for mass at 7 am followed by breakfast at Taylor's restaurant (on Mall Blvd) and discussion focused on supporting one another in our role as husbands and fathers.
Boy Scouts: Tommy Long 925-9105
The Boy Scouts of America is the nation's foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training. Our scouts provide volunteer services to the parish and the community. Our Cub Scout Pack 88, and our Boy Scout Troop 88, offer young people responsible fun and adventure, promote ethical values, and teach young boys to become men and be prepared for life.
Girl Scouts: Tina Blackston 355-9461
The purpose of Girls Scouting is to inspire girls with the highest ideals of character, conduct, patriotism, and service so they may become successful women and resourceful citizens. Our scouts offer volunteer services to the school and community. Our Brownie Troop 300, Junior Troop 155, and Cadet Troop 476, offer a nurturing environment, promote ethical values and teaches young girls to become women and be prepared for life.

The Newcomers Committee contacts newly registered parishioners, welcomes them, and strives to answer any questions about St. James parish. Twice each year, we welcome newcomers in a special way after Sunday Masses to continue and expand friendships.
Pastoral Care: Setona Page 356-5147
Our parish priests along with the Pastoral Care Committee visit parishioner who are ill or shut in and offer them friendliness and compassion. Of major spiritual importance is the privilege of bringing the Holy Eucharist to those who are unable to attend Mass. A special note: if you or a loved one is hospitalized, hospitals no longer give out patient names. It is up to a family member to notify the rectory/office and give the information needed in order to see the patient.
Pro-Life: Brian Kennedy 354-3065
The purpose of the Pro-Life Committee is to encourage and activate pro-life activities among and within our parish, and represent St. James in diocesan activities. This is done through individual prayer, our pro-life holy hour each Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., and keeping parishioners informed of other programs and organizations such as Birthright, Project Rachel, and Priests for Life. In Savannah, prayer vigils are held at 120 East 34th Street each Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. Please join in praying for unborn children.

The Publicity Committee takes pictures of new members and casual photographs of various parish events to promote awareness of all the activities within the parish.
Youth Ministry: Daniel & Christina Winters 335-2656
The Youth Ministry Committee offers opportunities to participate in social, spiritual and community service activities. The objectives are to draw young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in today’s world, provide them with tools to make healthy decisions when confronted with peer pressure, to encourage them to take a more active role in the life of the parish—and do it while having fun! Our high school youth ministry is tailored to grades 9-12, and our junior high school youth ministry is tailored to grades 6-8.
